hey everyone! check out my gallery! i finally got pics of shorty yesterday. Yes, he is so dubbed shorty at this point…i have tried other names but since it took so long, everyone just calls him shorty. I don't know if i will ever be able to change it! He's doing really well. We have our first ground driving lesson next week and the vet said (pending the x-rays i am getting in June) I should be able to ride him for 10 or 15 minutes at a time this fall. YAY! He is currently 15.2 at the hip and just under that at the withers. It looks like he is going to be about 16.2 with the mass of a Dutch Warmblood. I have hopes of eventing him since thats what he was bred for, but after my riding instructor was relaying stories of being put in a coma for 6 weeks after a nasty fall on a x-country course, i figure i should probably get some better insurance! The problem with cross country is that the jumps don't fall down when you hit them like they do in arena jumping. Diane also pointed out that it is not natural for horses to be jumping off cliffs into ponds…hmmm…good point. Regardless, riding aroud in circles in the arena has become boring after 13 years…i need a challenge! We are also attempting to sell H's horse. He's a 16hh TB gelding who can and will jump just about anything, it appears he would be right at home in the eventing circuit, so if anyone is looking check him out in my gallery as well! Other then that, its a beautiful day in MN…with a high of 85 today, i am right at home. This is the sort of weather i should be living in year round.
