Over the weekend the circus was here in town and one of the acrobat girls fell and was killed. There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the safety, whether or not everything was up to par etc. There has also been a lot of comments made on the radio and television to the effect of “This tragedy is such a shame, she was such a beautiful young girl” So…what? if she wasn't beautiful, it would be less tragic? You wouldn't have as much compassion for her if she was ugly? or old? it got me on the war path today. Sometimes since being out of all my women's studies classes i lose the edge, but the media just brings out the best in me…
