new gadgets
i have owned a pink ipod mini for approximately a year a half. I have always struggled with the battery. It pretty much works for about 30 seconds if not plugged in. which was ok with me, i mainly used it in my car where i had a charger. With only the occasional grumbling about not being able to use it in a more portable manner, i loved that ipod. It was, afterall, pink.
Last fall, Jason decided i could NOT live like this, and we attempted to redeem the warranty for a new battery that we had bought. But, we had waited too long. It was expired. Whatever i said, and shrugged. I could tell it was eating Jay alive, because he talked about it for about 2 weeks after. I have never been a big gadget person and it never really bothered me.
On our most recent trip to Vegas, i grumbled about not have music and made the sad eyes at Jason on the plane. Not necessarily because i wanted to listen to his music, but because i wanted to see how effective my sad eyes are, and if i could get jason to give up his ipod. (which, may i point out, has better capabilities then mine. Much fancier. But thats how it always goes with our stuff. Mainly because i get bogged down in the bells and whistles and typically refuse to use anything with more then 2 or 3 buttons)
The sad eyes didn't have the immediate effect i was looking for. However, when we got home, Jason started researching buying new batteries. We found for a mere $50 we could replace my battery. One night Jason called me from some computer store saying he was getting me a new battery. Whatever i said, and shrugged.
Jason bugged me for the next 2 days to give him my ipod. i clung to it. I knew the dangers behind this operation. Then gave it up. i came home to Jason poking it with a screw driver. I wanted to grab it and run. But i didn't. i trust him, he knows what he is doing. he pokes his computers with screw drivers all the time. The next morning he proudly produced the brand new ipod "Alll fixed" he said and left for work. I got in my car to test it out, flipped it on, happy as can be that i could actually use it. Only, when i tried to actually play music, it just sat there. I tried out the extent of my computer genius and turned it off and flipped it back on. NOTHING. I called Jason…expecting to hear "oh, i will take a look at it when i get home" instead, i get "oh, really? sorry babe, i think i broke it" I came home later that night to Jason jamming a screw driver into it, prying parts off. Thats when i knew it was a lost cause.
Yesterday i got a brand new ipod. Not pink which i was quite upset about. But the battery works, i guess i can play videos on it, and store pictures on it. I see jason is green eyed, and makes comments about it. I told him yesterday that he can fix my ipod every 2 years or so from now on!
