Riley has been crawling for a little over a month now I think, but it was always just kind of here and there, to check out the stuff that was in close proximity.  about 3 weeks ago, he started pulling himself up to stand next to things, but again, it was sporadic what he would manage.

This week-he suddenly remembers every waking moment of his day what corner of the kitchen the dogs water bowl is in, and he is obsessed with playing in it.  He tries to pull himself up on everything, including our baby gate which is not anchored into anything.  I had to move it yesterday because he almost pulled it down on top of himself.  So i went to put it away as it will no longer be useful, and by the time i returned (about 45 seconds later)  he was in the dining room standing next to one of our kitchen chairs grinning at me.  10 seconds later he was on the floor wedged between the table leg and the chair.

much to my suprise, he didn’t cry, but immediately was eyeing up the outlet on the wall that we had, up until this point, not put a plug guard on.  I went in to the kitchen to get one, and by the time i returned he was eyeing up the paper shredder, which i promptly unplugged.

Dinner was overflowing on the stove, so i went back in to the kitchen, and by the time i turned around he was half way across the floor, heading for the dogs water bowl again.  Exasperated, I planned my speech for Jason to convince him we needed to go to the store that night and spare no expense in new baby gates that would contain this child.  I moved the water bowl into the other room, and hoped he wouldn’t notice the other dog  bowl that is on legs for our big dogs.  He didn’t, he was on his way to the living room, for his usual terrorizing of the Television and the various other electronics on the stand.  On his way, he managed to stop and manhandle our great dane who is too old to bother moving anymore, and then to attempt to pull himself up on his stroller which about fell on him.  We have a large inventory of tension gates that we used for the dogs previously, so i went to get them.  After putting them up, and moving the dog water bowl yet again, I contained Riley in the dining room/addition.  He layed at the gate just outside of the kitchen trying to pull himself up and crabbing  because apparently I had spoiled his fun.  But at least he is contained for the time being!!  I am not ready for this!
